The 2007 Nebraska road race season went out with a bang for Elkhorn Valley Cycling powered by Monster. Team members took home medals along with several top ten finishes in each category raced.

In stark contrast to Saturday's blue skies and pleasant temperatures, Sunday brought a chilly northwest wind with overcast skies. The conditions made race time temps seem lower than the mid 50's the thermometer read. The wind actually worked in favor of racers on this occassion, however, grouping the pack back up at the base of the incline to the start/finish line and giving a slight push across the line and into the first turn.  read more »

John Spray demonstrated his true potential today with a superb ride and was rewarded with the Cat 4 State Champion medal. Spray rode a conservative race staying near the front of a combined Masters/Cat 4 field for the majority of the 57 mile race. "I started to pass people so I thought I'd go for it." Spray said of the finish line sprint. John finished second overall in the Cat 4 race and was awarded the gold championship medal as the highest placing Nebraska resident.

Joe Savoie turned in another solid performance, bringing home a fifth place paycheck. A broken derailleur cable stymied Dan Schuldt's chance at glory in his initial Cat 4 outing. Duane Blair and Dan Spray finished in the top 20.  read more »

A full crew of Elkhorn Valley Cycling powered by Monster racers will be racing in the State Championships this weekend. The 4th Annual ElMur Fest and Neb Road Race Championship - Elmwood and 2007 Nebraska State Criterium Championship are Saturday and Sunday, respectively. This will be the final road racing weekend of 2007.  read more »

Spearfish, SD. - Labor Day weekend is one of the year's highlights for mountain bikers in the midwest with the focus on the Dakota 5-o, "a 50 mile mountain bike race/ride/tour in the Northern Black Hills." In its seventh year, the 5-o annually draws nearly 200 competitors. According the their website, "The course consists of about 80 percent single track, and a little over 6250 feet of climbing." Several aid stations along the way keep riders fueled for the long ride.  read more »
