Registration Open for Norfolk Classic Cycling Weekend

Norfolk - Registrations are open for both days of the Norfolk Classic Cycling Weekend at SportsBaseOnline. Registration must be made for BOTH days as this is NOT a stage race nor an omnium.

Total cash purse for the weekend is $6000 with $2000 allocated to the road race and a whopping $4000 in prize money to be awarded at the State Championship Criterium. In addition, several nice primes are on the table for the criterium. Finally, Rightway Performance Coaching will be awarding a free power test to the winners of the Men’s Cat 4, Men’s Cat 5, Women’s Cat 4, and the Junior classes each day.

Saturday road race will again be held on the (in)famous Stanton Road Race course. Race headquarters will be at the Stanton Fairgrounds, same as 2007. This year full rest room and shower facilities will be available on site. Riders will roll to the line for a 10AM start with waves of riders starting every few minutes.

Sunday the venue changes to the popular Downtown Norfolk Criterium Course. Back again for 2008, the

course features left and right hand turns, awesome spectator spots, two-way racing in front of the announcer stand, and a long finish line stretch tailor-made for exciting primes and photo-finishes. Several area restaurants and watering holes will be open during the day featuring front row seating for the action. Neutral support during the criterium will be provided by Cleveland Bike and Sport.

Medals and prizes for each day of racing will be presented with no overall weekend awards. Award ceremonies for the road race will be held immediately following the finish of the day’s racing while the Sunday criterium awards will be presented throughout the day. Cash payouts will be made to no more than 50% of the field.

State Championship medals will be awarded at the State Championship Criterium on Sunday to eligible participants. To be eligible, a rider must be an annual USA Cycling road racing license holder and a Nebraska resident. Annual licenses must be purchased prior to race-day to be eligible.

The Norfolk Cycling Weekend gives Nebraska riders two opportunities for Nebraska Rider of the Year points. Both days of racing are USAC permitted and sanctioned by the Nebraska Cycling Association . The Norfolk Classic Cycling Weekend is promoted by the Elkhorn Valley Cycling Club and sponsored by Monster Energy and the Norfolk/Madison County Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Norfolk Race Series Starts May 6!

Now that winter is over (last week it seems like) the Norfolk Race Series is HERE! The fun starts May 6 at 7PM, Woodland Park, with a time trial.

Short course will turnaround just past Hoskins at the top of the hill, long course turns around at the State TT turnaround.

Start/finish will be at the top of the hill at the Nucor road entrance - prerace meeting at Woodland Park.

$5.00 non-members, club members free.

EVCC Recreational Ride Organizational Meeting

EVCC Hosted Training Crit Setup

As most of you know there EVCC is hosting the second training crit this Saturday.  I would like to see if we can get some help Friday night to start sweeping and then again on Saturday morning to "fine tune" things.  Also, we will be in need of some corner marshalls Saturday to make things go smoothly.  Let me know if there are any questions.

in conjunction with Faith Regional Hospital, Norfolk Police, Life Net, US92, Eric Caauwe and AAA of Omaha has agreed to also participate.  The Cycling Club assisting with bike inspections. 

WOW!

Clevelands got the KHS Team Flite in today...  its sweeeeeeeet in person.  The photos and advertising don't do it justice at all.  We hung it on the shop scale, without pedals, 15lbs.  I'm sold!
