Time to Renew Your Memberships

Its is that time of year again - time to renew your club and USA Cycling memberships. Why join? There are good reasons to join each organization. As a cyclist in northeast Nebraska your Elkhorn Valley Cycling Club membership helps support cycling advocay in the area as well as promote trail and singletrack maintenance and developement. You also become part of an organization known in the Midwest for its quality races and race team.

Speaking racing, if your wish to race your bike wearing either an Elkhorn Valley Cycling powered by Monster or The Bike Way uniform, you must belong to the Elkhorn Valley Cycling Club. USA Cycling prohibits the wearing of team colors or listing your affiliatoin with a team on an entry form without being a paid member in good standing of that club or team.

As a member of the race team, the member is eligible for special discounts at either of the two sponsoring bike shops - Cleveland Bike and Sport in Norfolk and The Bike Way of Omaha. All club members receive discounts on parts and service but team members receive extra benefits to assist them in their endeavors.

Being a member of USA Cycling not only helps the rider but racing and riding in the entire State of Nebraska. Purchasing a racing license entitles the member to various discounts with a laundry list of affiliate sponsors. if you plan to race more than a cojuple times in the calendar year the annual license will pay for itself in saving the one-day license fee due on race day. And, as an annual license holder your race results will be maintained by USA Cycling to be used for upgrade and historical purposes.

Beyond that, the purchse of a USA Cycling annual license automatically makes the holder a member of the Nebraska Cycling Association, the local association of USA Cycling responsible for permitting races and upgrading riders and the education of promoters and race officials. The NCA also  assists in the  organizing various races and events. And, a part of each annual license fee sold to a Nebraska resident comes back to the NCA to be used to promote racing in the state.
