EVCCX-Monster had a great cyclocross season this year. Chris Buck and Rich Anderson both scored top 10 results and the rest of the team had several solid top 20 places. (I apologize but I don’t have all team results – Janna Vavra is missing on USAC’s website)
Rich Anderson filed this report on his win (great job Rich!) in Leavenworth, KS:
Sunday I went down to Leavenworth, KS for what is now the last road race of the year.
The race took off, and about a half lap in i must have been feeling good since the race did not seem to be going super fast as in most crits at the start. A few laps in they call a prime, and about three riders are up the road, I chase them down and after we go thru the start/finish I notice that we have a decent gap for four rider. Continue reading →
The end of August means heat and racing in and around Sioux Falls. This year, the Sioux Falls races were grouped as the Canton Cycling Classic and made part of the Midwest Flyover Series. The heat and wind took its toll on everyone, including EVCC racers Joe Savoie, Rich Anderson, Colby Turpin and Sam Oakes.
Oakes had the best results of the weekend with fourth in the time trial.
With this race complete, the standings for the Midwest Flyover series are final and Joe Savoie ends the year in 8th place in Men’s Cat 3. Congratulations Joe!
EVCC’s most prolific road racers represented the team in three races in August: the East Village Criterium, the Arrows to Aerospace Crit and the Papio Crit. Out of 12 starts, they finished in the top 10 5 times, making for some excellent results.

Joe Savoie, Omaha, continues with what looks to be one of his best racing seasons ever racking up a second place in the Men’s Category 3 road race at the Bicycle, Blues & Barbeque festival in Clear Lake, Iowa. The race, along with the weekend’s criterium and time trial, were part of the Midwest Flyover Series.
In addition to the road race, the weekend included a time trial, criterium, and overall omnium award.
Its been a busy month for Elkhorn Valley Cycling with lots of races and tons of riding. So busy, in fact, its hard to keep up. We’ve had lots of podiums but more importantly we’ve all been riding our bikes and having fun.
