The end of August means heat and racing in and around Sioux Falls.This year, the Sioux Falls races were grouped as the Canton Cycling Classic and made part of the Midwest Flyover Series. The heat and wind took its toll on everyone, including EVCC racers Joe Savoie, Rich Anderson, Colby Turpin and Sam Oakes.
Oakes had the best results of the weekend with fourth in the time trial.
With this race complete, the standings for the Midwest Flyover series are final and Joe Savoie ends the year in 8th place in Men’s Cat 3. Congratulations Joe!
EVCC’s most prolific road racers represented the team in three races in August: the East Village Criterium, the Arrows to Aerospace Crit and the Papio Crit. Out of 12 starts, they finished in the top 10 5 times, making for some excellent results.

Joe Savoie, Omaha, continues with what looks to be one of his best racing seasons ever racking up a second place in the Men’s Category 3 road race at the Bicycle, Blues & Barbeque festival in Clear Lake, Iowa. The race, along with the weekend’s criterium and time trial, were part of the Midwest Flyover Series.
In addition to the road race, the weekend included a time trial, criterium, and overall omnium award.
April was the month for Iowa road racing, and EVCC was in the mix.
The Twin Bing Cycling Classic in Climbing City, Iowa was as expected: windy, hard, and windy. Rich Anderson had a stellar day with a fourth place making him the highest-finishing team rider at the event.

Its one of the best times of the year – who doesn’t love being off-road in the fall? The leaves, the crisp air, the blood-in-the-mouth feeling. Wait.. what? Yes, the racing season is still on, with a few fall MTB races remaining and cyclocross racing ramping up there is still plenty of action.
Our top finishers for July are Janna Vavra and Brad Auen, who both took gold at the Cornhusker State Games.
