Race results update 6-9-2014

Its been busy since the mid-April update. Sean Moore and Sara Reynolds have been killing it at the Psycowpath marathons, Jerry Hoff took second in Ponca, we had several of our athletes place at our race at Maskenthine, and Dan Zieg and Jill Riese excelled at the Ironman 70.3 in Kansas.

2013 Dakota 5-O

EVCC at Dakota 5-O

Several riders representing Elkhorn Valley Cycling headed to Spearfish SD for the annual Dakota 5-O mountain bike race. The “5-Oh” is on many riders’ “must do” list year after year, with some focusing their entire year on the race.

In the Singlespeed category, Whitney Porn came in second in the female division while husband Brian finished 29th in the men’s division. Both finished with a time of 6:15:52.

Jerry Hoff was 30th in the 50+ division with a time of 6:03:33. Todd Jochum was 130th in the 30-39 age group with a time of 7:08:17.

August Pyscowpath Updates

The Nebraska Lottery Pyscowpath Series presented two races in August this year with both races being additions to the normal calendar. Races traveled to the popular Moorehead State Park in Ida Grove, Iowa for the Moorehead Mayhem and then to the inaugural Calvin Crest Crankfest near Fremont, Nebraska the following week.

Jerry Hoff and Whitney Porn made it to the podium in Iowa and Jeremy Nicholson took the third step at Calvin Crest. Continue reading →

EVCC Scores at BH Back 40

EVCCX-Monster was well-represented at the Black Hills Back 40 July 27 in South Dakota.

Rhonda Wright said she was “2nd in women 20-38 if I never see another rock it will be too soon Brian and whit did well also.”

Speaking of Brian and Whit (Porn), Brian reported “Good day at the black hills back 40 shorty. Podium finishes for Whitney and I on singlespeed. Around 15th overall. I was third on singlespeed but second in overall age group.”

June 12 to July 12 Race Wrap-Up

Its been a busy month for Elkhorn Valley Cycling with lots of races and tons of riding. So busy, in fact, its hard to keep up. We’ve had lots of podiums but more importantly we’ve all been riding our bikes and having fun.

Ponca’s Revenge MTB 6-15-2013

The weather was a bit sketchy and the schedule was shifted a bit to accommodate, but things turned out well in the end. Sean Moore took seventh and Brian Porn ninth in Men’s Marathon with Whitney Porn second in Women’s Marathon. Jerry Hoff was third in Men Cat 2 50+. Continue reading →
