Time Trial Series Off and Running

The delayed start of the Norfolk Time Trial Series was almost delayed again with threats of thunderstorms. No severe weather moved into the area but rain showers still soaked the riders during the last half of the race. A busy spring that has forced many locals into a mid-season funk kept numbers low but the competition on hand was still fierce.

Course lengths were adjusted to suit the terrain and race duration goals with the short course (B and C categories) measuring 8 miles and the long course (A category) 14 miles. Tricia Faimon and Jan Hake squared off in the Womens's B race with Tricia coming out on top. Duane Blair edged out John Spray for the win in the A race with Richard Hake coming in third.

The hottest competition came in the Men's B race. Long-time rivals Mark Herzinger and Dennis Smith rolled to the line in that order with Dennis starting 30 seconds after Mark. When the riders came in it was too close to call but the computerized results showed Mark taking his well-deserved first win by three seconds.

Some discussion was held about changes in the remaining race schedule with some good thoughts and ideas coming from several folks. More consideration is needed before coming to a conclusion and any changes will be posted prior to the next scheduled race.
