I propose a change in location to the remaining time trials. There has been a dramatic decrease in turnout which may or may not be attributed to its current location. Highway 35 is a great training route but it carries quite a bit of traffic. A move to the location proposed below would get us off of heavily travelled roads and give us more exposure along with other location benefits.

The start/finish line would be on the access road in front of the Norfolk Airport, basically where Sherwood Road would intersect the airport. From there it would go south and out of the air park onto Old Highway 81 (South 13th Street). The route would continue south to 836th Road then go right onto 836th up the hill. The route then goes north on 554th Avenue to Fairplay Road (837th) and back to S. 13th Street. Turning left here sends riders back to the start/finish line for an 8 mile race.

Distance can be added by turning right at Fairplay Road/S. 13th St. and repeating one or more laps around that section before turning back north to the finish.

This route would have all right hand turns except for the last one back to the finish, which is a relatively wide-open intersection. This is a mostly flat course, with some mild eleveation changes but nothing like Highway 35.

I am curious to know if the difficulty of the Highway 35 course has scared some possible novice attendees away. Maybe, but I don't know.

I am opening this up for discussion. Please feel free to comment on this, pro or con, or comment if you have any other possible course suggestions. I would love to go back to the Norfolk Beverage course but until that road is fixed it isn't an option.
