What pays for cycling? I’m a full time student so my generous husband and savings pays for the bike addiction.
Fun away from cycling: Thinking about cycling, running and weight lifting with Brian. Or homework if I have to.
How long have you been cycling? Began “training” in January 2011 and MTB racing in April 2011. I am still very much a beginner.
Bikes: 2010 Felt ZW100 road bike, 2012 Marin Nail Trail MTB for XC and CX. I’m hoping for a real CX bike this year.
Favorite cycling discipline: off road, especially MTB racing
Most memorable race: Omaha CX weekend. I showed up to Swanson with Brian to ride the trails without knowing that there was a CX race. I showed up about 10 minutes before the women’s heat and got talked into racing; 35 lb mountain bike, hiking boots and all. I have never even seen a CX race and still managed a 3rd place finish.
Career highlight: 2011 Cat 3 champ for Psycowpath MTB Series. Huge accomplishment for a first timer.
Goals for 2012: race cat 2 MTB in NE and IA, South Dakota Back Country 40, Dakota Five-0. I also would like to help more women get involved in riding/racing.
Dream bike: While I love and live to drool over everybody’s Konas, Treks, Rocky Mts, I think its less about the bike and more about the ride. I love my Nail Trail and its hardly comparable to everybody’s bikes. Instead of one really sweet ride, I would like to have several decent bikes: down hill, dirt jumper, I need them all.
One thing for my teammates: I absolutely love being a part of a team that accepts everybody for their different strengths and weaknesses. I feel like EVCC is the model of a cohesive and supportive race team.
