This week we feature Nick Cleveland, co-owner of the family-operated Cleveland Bike and Sport in Norfolk. Nick stays busy enough with family and his full-time job, but also finds time to manage the shop, brew beer, AND ride his bike pretty fast. Thanks for making us all look bad, Nick.
Name: Nick Cleveland
Current City: Norfolk
Home town: Norfolk
Significant other’s name/family: Wife-Renee, Son-Teagan 5, Daughter-Dacy 3, Son-Madux 2
What pays for your cycling addiction (where do you work)? IT at BankFirst in Norfolk
What do you do away from cycling for fun? Brew lots of tasty beer.
How long have you been cycling: Picked up a ProFlex my senior year of high school. Been pretty well hooked since.
Bikes: Trek-Madone, Presidio, and Superfly. Surly-Big Dummy and Karate Monkey
Favorite cycling discipline: Really starting to enjoy the gravel rides, but anything fun on a bike is great.
Most memorable race: The great hail storm crit at the classic a few years ago.
Highlight of your cycling career: Opening my own bike shop.
Goals for 2012: I packed on more than the weight of my Madone around the midsection this winter. Dropping that from my belly would be foremost on my mind right now. Hoping to complete a couple triathlons this summer.
