Its one of the best times of the year – who doesn’t love being off-road in the fall? The leaves, the crisp air, the blood-in-the-mouth feeling. Wait.. what? Yes, the racing season is still on, with a few fall MTB races remaining and cyclocross racing ramping up there is still plenty of action.
The 2012 Mullet Fall Classic Lake Ahquabi State Park, IA was on 10/7/2012 and EVCCX-Monster was there. Brad Auen took home a well-deserved first place in Cat 1, besting Cam Kirkpatrick in the process. We know this has been one of Brad’s goals and were glad he managed it on this course.
In cyclocross action, races are popping up all over and the team has riders in them. Rich Anderson has been the most prolific so far, racing in both Iowa and Nebraska.
At the Greenstreet Cycling Twilight Cyclocross on 9-12-2012 Anderson came away with 32nd in Cat 3. Rich had a great finish at the Capital City Cross in Des Moines with a sixth place in Men Masters 35+ on 9-29-2012.
At the Fontanelle GP CX Anderson was 16th in Cat 3. Chris Buck and Jon Downey raced in Cat 4 with Buck taking 11th and Downey 17th.
Janna Vavra had a better night at the second Flatwater Twilight CX, taking second in Women 1/2/3 this where she DNF’d the week before. Joe Savoie was seventh in Men 3/4 at this same race.
