Dan Spray and Todd Jochum duked it out for 1.5 laps around Maskenthine Lake for bragging rights in the opening off-road round of the 2010 Norfolk Race Series June 29. Spray would win the battle but narrowly and not without the loss of some skin and blood. "I keep telling you all I can't descend." he remarked after the dust settled.

June 26 and 27 were the 2010 dates for the cycling events at the 2010 Nebraska Cornhusker State Games. With the Special Olympics in Lincoln in July the States Games was moved to June.

Several EVCC riders made the trip to race, and work, the 2010 Ponca's Revenge Psycowpath race at Ponca SP this last Saturday. The conditions couldn't have been better with an immaculate race course and nearly perfect temperatures. The Ponca course is one of the toughest in the area and drew a record number of participants this year. 

 EVCC members Chad Dyhrkopp and Karen Johnson both competed in a shortened HyVee Triathlon on June 13, 2010 in Des Moines, IA. 

Dyhrkopp competed in the Co-ed team division as the cyclist with his wife Jody as the runner. A co-worker of Chad's was the swimmer and the group finished 6th out of 115 teams. 

The flooding of the Elkhorn River kept some of the Omaha riders away but didn't stop Buddy Houts from coming from Sioux City to take part in the June edition of the Norfolk Race Series Criterium. A total of 12 riders, including one bike-touring Cat 2, Lee Maroni, took to the course at Northeast Community College in one mass field. 

Local cycling goddess Jan Hake (Madison) won the Women's 50-59 division (long course) at the Norfolk YMCA triathlon June 12, finishing her first triathlon in 1:16:21.

Omaha resident and EVCC member Aaron Rowland also completed his first triathlon, finishing 6th in the Men's 35-39 at 1:06:49

Elkhorn Valley Cyclling/Team Type 1 captured two State Championships at the 2010 Nebraska State Championship Time Trial held in Yutan, Nebraska June 12.

Norfolk, Neb. - The 2010 Norfolk Classic Cycling Weekend is in the books: the record books that is. 196 riders registered for the weekend of races which included the Norfolk Classic Road Race and the 2010 Nebraska State Championship Criterium. "As the close of registration got closer each night we watched the number of entries tick higher and higher." said Dan Spray, Norfolk Classic Race Director.

The June installment time trial in the 2010 Norfolk Race Series managed to get off after the storms passed but finished as the rains came. Fifteen riders came out to battle the wind and wet with some very respectable times turned in. Several riders turned in personal records as well.

Devin Bethune continues his string of wins with another top finish in the A Race tonight. However, nipping at his heals was Dan Spray riding to a personal record time. "I was hoping for 25mph, but I will take this." he said of his 24.64 mph average.
