April Road Racing Report

April was the month for Iowa road racing, and EVCC was in the mix.

The Twin Bing Cycling Classic in Climbing City, Iowa was as expected: windy, hard, and windy. Rich Anderson had a stellar day with a fourth place making him the highest-finishing team rider at the event.

The Midwest Flyover Series launched in Iowa City with an omnium. Joe Savoie had a great weekend and had this to report on his weekend in Iowa City:

Iowa City was fun. I was expecting better results in the road race but placed 22nd. I got dropped one time and then caught back onto to the pack by the 3rd and final lap, then the CPC boys put the hammer down. The pack got fragmented into small groups.
I wasn’t expecting to do well but did better on the TT. Placed 11th overall. 12.5 miles in 31:36 minutes on my road bike.
The Old Cap Crit was crazy fun. Just after the Start/Finish line there is a downhill drop with a corner at the end. I had a top speed in the crit of 39 mph. Probably on the hill turning the corner. Hung with the pack till the very end. Think I got 14th on the crit and overall for the Omnium.
